MCK – FAQ

Everything You Wanted to Know About the MCK – Answered

Have you been considering the CAA Micro Conversion Kit (MCK)? We’ve gathered and answered the most common questions to help you make an informed purchase and understand the key features across all MCK generations.

1. Can I run a ported barrel or slide with the MCK?

Answer: No. Ported or compensated barrels and slides are not compatible with any MCK generation. These barrels release gas upwards, which may interfere with the internal structure of the MCK and cause malfunctions or damage. Use only standard, non-ported barrels.

2. Can I use a suppressor with the MCK?

Answer: Yes – but only with Gen 2 and Gen 3 models.

  • MCK Gen 1: ❌ Not compatible with suppressors
  • MCK Gen 2: ✅ Accepts suppressors up to 1.38” diameter
  • MCK Gen 3: ✅ Accepts suppressors up to 1.50” diameter

Both Gen 2 and Gen 3 also support suppressor-height sights. Gen 1 does not.

3. What’s the difference between MCK Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 3?

Answer:

MCK Gen 1:
– Slim and compact
– Lightweight design
– Ambidextrous handling
– ❌ No support for suppressors or suppressor-height sights

MCK Gen 2 (adds to Gen 1):
– Fire with stabilizer in folded position
– Improved ergonomics
– Suppressor compatibility up to 1.38″
– Supports suppressor-height sights

MCK Gen 3 (adds to Gen 2):
– Accepts pistols with slide-mounted optics
– Dual-side folding stabilizer
– Supports suppressors up to 1.50”

4. Can I install the MCK without any tools?

Answer: Yes. One of the MCK’s major advantages is tool-free installation. Just insert your handgun and lock it in place – it’s that simple.

5. Does the MCK work with slide-mounted optics?

Answer: Only MCK Gen 3 supports pistols with slide-mounted optics (e.g., red dot sights). Gen 1 and Gen 2 do not.

6. Is the MCK legal in my state or country?

Answer: MCK legality varies by state and country. In the U.S., using a stock may require an NFA tax stamp. Always check your local laws. Note: we do not sell firearms – only conversion kits.

7. Which handguns are compatible with the MCK?

Answer: MCK kits are available for dozens of models from Glock, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, CZ, Springfield, and more. View our full compatibility chart here.

8. What accessories can I add to my MCK?

Answer: Compatible accessories include:

  • Flip-up sights
  • Thumb rests
  • Integral flashlights
  • Red dot optics
  • Sling swivels
  • Front grips

Most MCK models include Picatinny rails for flexible mounting.

9. Is the MCK good for home defense or training?

Answer: Yes. The MCK enhances control, stability, and speed – making it ideal for home defense, tactical training, or range use.

10. How is the MCK different from other conversion kits?

Answer:
– 100% Made in the USA
– Over 1.5 million units sold

MCK vs Micro Roni – What's the Difference?

If you’re comparing the MCK (Micro Conversion Kit) to the original Micro Roni, the MCK is not just a replacement — it’s a complete upgrade in every key area: compatibility, stability, ergonomics, and overall performance.

Top Advantages of the MCK Over the Micro Roni

  • Stronger Aluminum Top Picatinny Rail (Gen2 models)
The MCK features a precision-machined aluminum Picatinny rail instead of polymer. This makes a huge difference: aluminum is more rigid, holds zero better for optics, and resists warping under recoil or heat. (Polymer rails, used on some Micro Roni models, can flex or shift, leading to accuracy issues over time.)
  • No Disassembly Required – Fast, Tool-Free Installation
Insert your pistol, lock it in place, and you’re ready to shoot. No need to strip down your firearm, saving you time and avoiding assembly mistakes.
  • Fire with the Stock or Brace Folded
The MCK allows shooting even when folded — critical for close-quarters defense and tactical readiness.
  • Broader Pistol Compatibility
Works with dozens of handgun models (including those with compensators in Gen2 Aluminum Rail versions). One chassis can support multiple sidearms, reducing cost and simplifying logistics.
  • Full Accessory Mounting Options
Multiple Picatinny rails for lights, lasers, thumb rests, foregrips, and more. Fully ambidextrous operation for left- and right-handed shooters.
  • Compact, Lightweight & Ergonomic
Improved grip surfaces and foregrip design provide better control, faster follow-up shots, and superior handling compared to earlier designs.
  • Made in the U.S.A.
Built with high-grade polymer, aluminum components, and advanced manufacturing — ensuring quality, reliability, and long service life.

Why We Recommend the MCK Over the Micro Roni

We no longer offer the Micro Roni because the MCK is its refined evolution — designed for modern shooters who demand more from their gear. Whether you’re a civilian, law enforcement officer, or military user, the MCK delivers better accuracy, faster deployment, and greater versatility — without compromise.

FAQ: How is the MCK different from the Micro Roni?

The MCK (Micro Conversion Kit) is a next-generation upgrade over the Micro Roni, offering an aluminum top Picatinny rail (Gen2) for better optic stability, tool-free installation without disassembling the pistol, the ability to fire with the stock or brace folded, and compatibility with dozens of handgun models. It’s lighter, more ergonomic, and made in the U.S.A. for maximum durability and performance.
